Our Mission Statement

'To empower young New Zealanders to take responsibility for their lives, by creating an environment of trust, focus and passion, giving them the opportunity and skills to develop their dreams'

Youth T.E.A.M. Trust is designed for young people aged 12 -19 years regardless of their backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles.

It is a unique programme which gives young people the skills to deal with difficult life issues, and move on to be well grounded young adults.

The programme can assist young people overwhelmed with problems of abuse, low self-worth and difficult parent/adolescent relationships, as well as those struggling with the ability to communicate their problems to others.The programme explains the root causes of the difficulties that the young people are struggling with, so that symptoms like drug abuse, suicide, eating disorders, crime etc can come under control.

Youth T.E.A.M. Trust empowers young people (who through the programme have overcome their difficulties) to then help others dealing with similar issues. Young people are therefore, sharing where they have been, compared to where they are now and how they made the transition. The Youth T.E.A.M. Trust programme largely revolves around weekend workshops where an atmosphere of love and trust is created by using music, activities and sharing.The programme has many "special" moments, when a warm family type atmosphere is created with hugs, night time tuck ins, and bedtime stories.

It is hard to believe that teenagers react positively to these activities - but almost all say afterwards that these things are the highlights for them, as they may have yearned for these activities during childhood years.

The workshops are a great learning experience and provide young people with basic techniques on how to be involved, and deal with conflict in a family. Youth T.E.A.M. Trust has consistently impacted on young people's lives after one or more camps.

The workshops are conducted by Youth and Adult Leaders trained within Youth T.E.A.M. Trust.

The Youth Leaders are carefully selected to ensure they are positive role models for the young people who attend the workshops. The Youth and Adult Leaders are responsible for administering the workshops and providing support to other young people.

After the workshops, young people are encouraged to attend weekly Support Groups where they receive support from their peers and the positive alternatives to change their lives are reinforced in a similar environment to the workshops.

The program has been operating since 1998, so we have been operating for 12 years & over 3,500 participants have attended.

Where do young people look to for the skills required to become responsible adults?
Many of them come to the attention of authorities as a result of their own negative behaviour. Others appear to be functioning "normally", but are unable to reach their full potential. Youth T.E.A.M. Trust, conducts weekend workshops to;

"To empower young New Zealanders to take responsibility for their lives, by creating an environment of trust, Trust and passion, giving them the opportunity and skills to develop their dreams" (mission statement)

This program is making a huge difference. In the last 3 years, this program has positively affected 605 participants.
i.e. of the 66% of young people who've committed crime that come to camp, over 94% have stopped and moved on with their lives. An outstanding achievement by these young people - reiterating the Youth T.E.A.M. Trust Mission Statement"
